About Exploring Scholar
Exploring Scholar operates on a straightforward premise: educators teach better when they're not buried in admin. We handle the operational work—recruitment, scheduling, parent communication—leaving you free to focus on what you're great at. Our North York campus is designed for educators who want flexibility, collaboration, and real autonomy over their classroom experience.
The Opportunity
We're hiring an ELA teacher who's genuinely passionate about reading and writing. If you get excited about helping students find their voice as writers and dig deeper into literature, and you'd rather spend your time teaching than on paperwork, let's talk.
Core focus: Reading, Writing, and Literary Analysis (Grades 3–12). This isn't an ESL/ELL role.
What You'll Do
- Teach Across the Spectrum: From foundational phonics and comprehension strategies through advanced essay writing, literary theory, and university-prep analysis
- Adapt to Your Learners: Adjust your approach for younger students building confidence, and for high schoolers tackling complex texts and research essays
- Foster Genuine Engagement with Literature: Help students connect meaningfully with texts and develop critical reading skills
- Support Student Writing: Guide learners through the entire writing process—planning, drafting, revising, refining—with clear feedback
- Assess for Growth: Provide concrete, actionable feedback that helps students see their progress
- Use Tech Smartly: Integrate our classroom tools to enhance (not replace) in-person instruction
What We're Looking For
- ELA Credentials: Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Education,
or related Humanities field
- Multi-Level Experience: Solid track record teaching or tutoring ELA across elementary, middle, and high school
- Strong in Writing & Analysis: Demonstrated expertise in composition, literary criticism, and academic writing (we'll assess this in the interview)
- Flexible Educator: Able to adapt your instruction to different learning styles and needs
- Reliable & Available: Committed to consistent hours (minimum 4/week) at our North York location
