Role Description The Family Lawyer – Sarnia will manage a full-time remote practice focused on family law matters, including separation, divorce, parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, and property division. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising clients, drafting and reviewing legal documents and agreements, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in collaborative processes and, where necessary, in Family Court proceedings conducted remotely. The role involves conducting legal research, preparing pleadings and other court materials, attending virtual meetings, mediations, and case conferences, and maintaining clear,



timely communication with clients and colleagues.

The lawyer will work closely with the firm’s collaborative team to develop strategies that prioritize constructive resolution and client well-being, while ensuring compliance with professional and ethical obligations.

Qualifications

- Licensed lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, with demonstrated experience in family law practice.
- Robust skills in legal research, analysis, and drafting, including preparation of agreements, pleadings, affidavits, and court materials.
- Proficiency in negotiation, mediation, and collaborative family law processes, with a focus on settlement-oriented approaches.
- Excellent client communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and provide empathetic, practical guidance.
- Comfort working in a remote environment, with strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to use legal practice management and videoconferencing tools, and to work effectively with a distributed team.
- Experience appearing before the Family Court or handling contested family matters is an asset.
- Interest in ongoing professional development in family law, conflict resolution, and collaborative practice.
