Role Description The Family Lawyer – Windsor will handle a range of family law matters from initial client intake through to resolution, in a full-time remote role. Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with clients, assessing their legal needs, providing advice on parenting, support, and property issues, and preparing legal documents, agreements, and court materials. The lawyer will negotiate settlements, participate in collaborative law processes, and, when necessary, represent clients in Family Court proceedings.

The role also involves managing files, maintaining clear and timely communication with clients and colleagues,



and staying current with developments in Ontario family law and court procedures. The lawyer will work closely with a collaborative team, using remote tools and technology to deliver high-quality, client-centered service.

Qualifications

- Strong family law knowledge, including experience with parenting, support, and property division matters, and familiarity with Ontario Family Court processes.
- Proficiency in legal research, drafting pleadings, agreements, and correspondence, and reviewing documentation with attention to detail.
- Effective negotiation, dispute resolution, and collaborative practice skills, with a focus on minimizing conflict and promoting fair outcomes.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues in accessible language and build trust with clients.
- Ability to manage a remote, full-time caseload, organize files and deadlines, and use legal and collaboration software confidently.
- License in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (or eligibility to practice family law in Ontario) and prior experience in a family law setting.
- Demonstrated professionalism, ethical judgment, empathy, and commitment to client-centered service in sensitive, high-stakes matters.
- Experience with mediation or collaborative family law, and fluency in additional languages, are considered assets.
