JOB SUMMARY The Family Resource Advisor is responsible for meeting families requesting basic needs of support, completing brief assessments, and determining what support and resources can be provided. The Family Resource Advisor will also ensure families are connected to ongoing services as needed and may provide short-term coaching support to help ensure families have their needs met.

The Family Resource Advisor supports the delivery and coordination of basic needs programming for families in Eden Valley. The position works directly with families to complete intake assessments, identify needs, provide referrals and follow-up support, and connect families with appropriate community resources and services.

The Family Resource

Advisor works collaboratively with the Program Supervisor, management, community partners, and other prevention programs to ensure children, youth, and families receive comprehensive and wholistic support. The position is also responsible for maintaining accurate records, supporting program reporting, monitoring resources, and ensuring services comply with applicable policies and best practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Coordination

- Organize the daily operations of the basic need programs.
- Ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Family Support
- Build cooperative relationships with families.
- Complete intake assessments and identify family needs.
- Provide referrals and follow-up services to ensure families receive appropriate support.
- Provide short-term coaching support when required. Budget and Resource Management




- Work with the Program Supervisor and Manager to monitor program expenditures.
- Ensure resources are used effectively, and program spending remains within available funding.
- Support the management and distribution of resources such as food, clothing, and other essentials.

Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families in the community.
- Develop relationships with community partners to support meaningful activities and services.
- Help ensure families receive the support and services identified through the intake and assessment process.

Collaboration
- Coordinate with other prevention programs to provide a comprehensive and wholistic range of support and services for children, youth, and families. Compliance
- Ensure programs comply with relevant regulations, policies, and best practices. Record Keeping and Reporting
- Maintain complete and accurate records of interactions with families.
- Participate in compiling and preparing required program reports.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

- Diploma or degree in Human Services, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is helpful.
- Equivalent combinations of work experience and life experience will be considered.




- Experience working in a social work-type role is beneficial, preferably within a First Nations setting.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence, reliable vehicle, and clear Driver’s Abstract required.

- Ability to provide immediate support and solutions during crisis situations.
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding.
- Ability to develop and implement effective case plans tailored to each family.
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and in a time-sensitive manner.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and consistently meet deadlines, whether on-site or off-site.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

- Clear Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, required upon commencement of employment.
- Intervention Record Check required upon commencement of employment.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence required.
- Reliable vehicle required.
- Clear Driver’s Abstract required.
