We are seeking a Farm Supervisor to lead and oversee daily grape-farming operations. The successful candidate will coordinate and supervise farm workers while ensuring that vineyard activities are completed safely, efficiently, and according to production schedules.
This is a hands-on supervisory position involving grape production, vineyard maintenance, planting, cultivating, spraying, irrigation, harvesting, equipment operation, and general farm maintenance. The Farm Supervisor will play an important role in maintaining crop quality and productivity while ensuring compliance with workplace safety, environmental, and crop-health requirements.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of general farm workers.
- Develop and organize daily and seasonal work schedules based on vineyard production requirements.
- Oversee grape production activities, including planting, pruning, training, cultivating, irrigation, spraying, pest management, crop maintenance, and harvesting.
- Monitor vineyard conditions, crop development, soil moisture, and plant health to support healthy grape production.
- Coordinate harvesting operations and ensure grapes are harvested, handled, and transported appropriately to maintain quality.
- Operate and oversee the safe operation of farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, loaders, tillers, sprayers, irrigation equipment, and other agricultural machinery.
- Inspect, maintain, and arrange repairs for farm machinery, irrigation systems, tools, buildings, fencing, and other farm infrastructure.
- Use and oversee the use of hand tools and power tools for vineyard and equipment maintenance.
- Assign tasks to farm workers, monitor work performance, and provide on-the-job training and direction.
- Train workers in safe work procedures, proper equipment operation, vineyard practices, and farm protocols.
- Enforce workplace health and safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.
- Follow and enforce appropriate crop protection, biosecurity, sanitation, and environmental procedures applicable to grape production.
- Maintain accurate records relating to crop production, yields, pesticide or other agricultural inputs, equipment maintenance, inventory, and farm activities.
- Monitor inventory and arrange for supplies, materials, tools, and agricultural inputs as required.
- Identify operational issues and coordinate corrective action to maintain efficient farm operations.
- Assist with planning and implementing seasonal vineyard activities and production programs.
- Communicate with farm management regarding crop conditions, production progress, staffing requirements, equipment needs, and operational issues.
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous hands-on experience in grape production, viticulture, agriculture, or farm operations, with experience in a supervisory or lead-hand capacity.
- Experience coordinating and directing farm workers, harvesters, machinery operators, or agricultural labourers.
- Knowledge of vineyard and horticultural practices, including grapevine care, pruning, cultivation, irrigation, pest management, crop protection, and harvesting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and practical experience with farm machinery, irrigation systems, tools, and general farm maintenance.
- Experience operating agricultural equipment such as tractors, loaders, sprayers, or similar machinery is highly desirable.
- Ability to develop work schedules, assign tasks,
supervise employees, and maintain production records.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures and the ability to train workers in safe work practices.
- Ability to follow and enforce crop-health, biosecurity, environmental, and agricultural safety procedures.
- Basic math skills for measuring agricultural inputs, monitoring production, calculating yields, and maintaining accurate records.
- Good communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse farm team.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, walking, bending, and using hand or power tools.
- A college certificate, diploma, specialized agricultural training, or equivalent practical agricultural experience is an asset.
- Standard First Aid or other applicable agricultural certifications/licences are considered an asset and may be required depending on job duties and provincial requirements.
Working Conditions
- This is a hands-on farm position requiring regular outdoor work.
- Work may involve early mornings, weekends, and extended hours during peak vineyard and harvest periods.
- The position involves exposure to weather conditions, agricultural machinery, dust, soil, plants, and agricultural products.
- Personal protective equipment and appropriate safety procedures must be followed when performing applicable farm tasks.

Pay: $18.25-$23.00 per hour
