Description The Health and Safety Coordinator has an important impact, supporting Sunshine's injury management function by working directly with team members and supervisory teams on successful modified work placements and safe return-to-work planning. This role also provides general occupational health and safety programming support throughout the winter operating season at the Resort and associated work sites. The Health and Safety Coordinator reports to the Benefits Advisor and Health and Safety Advisor on day-to-day tasks and works closely with all Resort departments.
Job Functions The primary function of this role is carrying out the on-site functions of Sunshine’s injury management program: coordinating meaningful interactions and meetings with workers and supervisors, assisting with claims, managing documentation (digital and physical), and facilitating effective communication.
Supporting general Resort Health and Safety initiatives; “one-off” projects, collaborative development of department programming, training, incident investigations, emergency response planning, and the like.
- Performing a broad range of tasks related to the above, with minimal supervision.
- Composing correspondence and preparing requests for information and policy documents.
- Assisting in acquisition of supplies and inventory, where required.
- Adhering to and monitoring record retention and recordkeeping best practices.
- Monitoring deadlines for claims, filings, objections, and appeals.
- Arranging review meetings with targeted outcomes for workers and departments.
- Organizing the collection of health and safety data to produce reports, present statistics, and identify areas for growth and improvement.
This role may include taking on an administrative and participatory role with the SSV Joint Health and Safety Committee. Other duties, including administrative and operations department support, may be requested and assigned from time to time and throughout the operating season.
Experience/Requirements
- Previous experience in WCB or claims management, human resources, or a similar administrative role is preferred. A combination of relevant training, credentials, and experience will be considered.
- Must have good organization and multi-tasking skills and be able to oversee large amounts of information (sensitive, financial, operational), use discretion, and uphold privacy standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to communicate effectively and objectively, in English (written and verbally) with a range from entry-level staff to senior company representatives is a must.
- Proven ability to manage a schedule, be on time, and complete work in a timely manner.
- Proficient in computer systems, applications, and document control.
- Maintain professional conduct on/off-duty and when knowingly acting as a company representative.
- Effectively provide training, support, and assistance to others.
Additional Considerations
- Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
- This job works set, full-time hours, though the candidate may at occasional times work a flexible, changing seasonal schedule (weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours).
- This position may require some travel between work sites.
- This role will be working indoors and outdoors, throughout a high-altitude, alpine setting. Outdoor uniform pieces are provided, and a professional appearance is always required.
- This role handles sensitive, confidential Company and personal information. Discretion is a must.
