Role Description The Health Care Aid – role is a part-time, on-site position based in Burnaby, BC. This role focuses on providing individualized in-home support to Cantonese-speaking clients, including assistance with personal care such as bathing, grooming, hygiene, and toileting. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting mobility and safety, offering companionship, monitoring client well-being, and communicating changes in condition to the care team and family.
The Health Care
Aid may assist with light housekeeping,
meal preparation, medication reminders, and accompaniment to appointments, shopping, and errands. This role works closely with supervisors, other care team members, and families to ensure culturally sensitive, respectful, and client-centered care.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess healthcare-related skills and knowledge, such as Healthcare experience, basic Medicine understanding, or equivalent practical care background.
- Candidates should possess solid Communication skills, including the ability to speak and communicate clearly in English with clients, families, and colleagues.
- Candidates should possess relevant Training, such as a Health Care Assistant certificate, Personal Support Worker training, or equivalent caregiving education.
- Candidates should possess emergency care awareness or EMT-related competencies, or be willing to learn and follow safety and emergency protocols.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include experience in home care or senior care, knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer’s support, cultural sensitivity, reliability, and the ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are an asset, along with the ability to meet any local regulatory requirements for home care workers.
