Role Description The Health and Safety Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Canada, responsible for supporting and improving safety practices across Taiga Air Services’ operations. This position involves developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies, procedures, and programs that align with regulatory requirements and company standards.
Day-to-day tasks include conducting workplace inspections, assisting with hazard assessments, maintaining safety documentation, and tracking corrective actions. The coordinator will organize and deliver safety training sessions, support incident reporting and investigations, and collaborate with operational teams to promote a solid safety culture.
The role also requires staying current with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Workplace Safety principles, with experience applying them in operational environments.
- Understanding of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Occupational Health practices, including risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to design, deliver, and evaluate Safety Training programs for diverse teams.
- Post-secondary education or certification in occupational health and safety, environmental health, or a related field (e.g., CRSP or equivalent considered an asset).
- Experience in aviation, transportation, or industrial settings is an advantage.
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage staff at all levels.
- Proficiency in using standard office software and safety management systems for reporting and data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on-site, manage multiple priorities, and uphold a proactive safety mindset.
