Maple Villa is an independent 93-bed licensed long-term care home located in Burlington, Ontario. Maple Villa is fully accredited by Accreditation Canada and has been providing quality resident and family-focused care since 1971. We continually strive to make a difference, to provide Person and Family-centered care and provide services where safety is a priority.
Our interdisciplinary team are committed about the care for our residents, staff, families and volunteers and are consistently reflecting on practices and areas of improvement to provide exceptional, individualized, culturally competent care to our residents and maintain a strong and dedicated health care team.
We are opening a current Home in January 2027 that will support 256 residents in our community! The new Maple Villa is located on Palladium Way in north Burlington.
Job Overview
Reporting to the Building Services Manager, the Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor is responsible and accountable for managing an effective Housekeeping and Laundry department with the focus on ensuring the delivery of quality services for the Home, residents, and staff. Ensures the Home, its equipment and linens are in a state of good repair and cleanliness. Ensures a safe environment for residents, visitors and staff.
Ensures that continuous quality improvement outcomes approved for the Home are met or exceeded, and demonstrates dedication to professional values and the mission, vision and values of the Home. Qualifications
· A grade 12 secondary school diploma is preferred
· Educational background in executive housekeeping is an asset
· Experience as a professional housekeeper
· Management experience preferred
· Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
· Working knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
· Must have effective English skills, written and verbal.
Hours of Work
- Available 7 days per week

Main Duties and Responsibilities · Organizes and manages all aspects of housekeeping and laundry within the Home
· Cooperates with other departments and participates as a team player
· As a working supervisor, performs some daily housekeeping and/or heavy-duty cleaning duties
· Ensures effective infection control practices pursuant to the Home’s policies and best practices
· Participates in selection, evaluation,
promotion and termination of housekeeping and laundry employees
· Responsible for completing staff performance appraisals
· Ensure all staff participate in the orientation process
· Ensure all staff complete mandatory home specific orientation and on-going education
· Completes and submits payroll approvals
· Creates and maintains staffing schedules
· Creates and maintains job routines
· Ensures all contracted hours of housekeeping and laundry services are adhere
· Ensures adequate level of supplies are in stock;
· Ensures a process is in place for lost laundry
· Ensures linens are in a state of good repair and cleanliness
· Attends and participates in interdisciplinary meetings as required
· Uses the Continuous Quality Improvement to evaluate and ensure follow-up including auditing all the services within the department
· Follows up with any deficiencies found as a result of audits and creates a plan of action for improvement
· With the support of Human Resources Business Partner participates in managing WSIB claims and the early and safe return to work program
· With the support of Human Resources Business Partner ensures the Health and Safety program and literature are up to date and followed within the department
· Complies with WHMIS standards and public health procedures
· Actively participates in ongoing educational opportunities and transmits information regarding new developments and trends to staff
· Shares responsibility for care of the environment and equipment of the home and the personal belongings of the residents
· Required to promote wellness as a concept of living
· Works cooperatively with students and volunteers to foster community linkages
· Protects own health and the health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe working conditions immediately and attending all relevant in-services regarding Occupational Health and Safety
· Must actively participate in ongoing educational activities
· Follows all roles and responsibilities for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
· Ensures compliance with the provisions of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act

· Participates in the manager on call and weekend on call rotations.
