Overview

We are seeking a motivated IT Technical Support Technician to provide first-line technical support to employees and users experiencing difficulties with computer hardware, software applications, communication systems, networks, and Internet connectivity.

The successful candidate will assist users with technical issues, maintain computer systems and equipment, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and support the organization's day-to-day IT requirements.

Responsibilities

- Communicate with users in person, by telephone, email, and other electronic means to identify and document technical problems.
- Diagnose, reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve computer hardware, software, and connectivity problems experienced by users.
- Consult technical manuals, user guides, vendor documentation, and other resources to research and implement solutions to technical problems.
- Provide first-line technical support for desktop and laptop computers, operating systems, software applications, printers, peripherals, and related IT equipment.
- Provide support for business systems, network connectivity, Wi-Fi, Internet access, email, and communication applications.
- Install, configure, update, and maintain computer hardware and software.
- Set up computers, user accounts, software, peripherals, and workstations for new and existing employees.
- Provide users with advice, instructions, and basic training regarding computer systems, software, and IT procedures.
- Maintain records and logs of technical problems, troubleshooting activities, and solutions.
- Escalate technical issues that cannot be resolved through first-line troubleshooting to appropriate technical resources or service providers.
- Assist with software updates, system maintenance, backups, and routine IT support activities.
- Maintain records of computers, IT equipment, software licences, and other technology assets.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining IT procedures, user instructions, and technical documentation.




- Follow company information-security, confidentiality, access-control, and IT policies.
- Perform other related user-support and IT technical duties as required.
- Education
- College diploma or certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Systems, Computer Programming, Network Administration, or a related field; or

Experience

Previous experience in IT support, computer systems, networking, hardware, software, or a related technical environment is considered an asset.

Relevant academic projects, internships, co-op placements, technical training, and other hands-on IT experience will also be considered.

Required Skills

- Knowledge of Windows-based computer systems.
- Understanding of computer hardware and peripheral devices.
- Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, and Internet connectivity.
- Ability to install and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and OneDrive.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to research technical problems and implement appropriate solutions.
- Positive verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and technical systems.

Experience or familiarity with the following is considered an asset:

- Microsoft 365 administration
- Windows 10/11
- Microsoft Entra ID / Azure Active Directory
- User account administration
- LAN and Wi-Fi troubleshooting
- Remote technical support
- Help-desk or ticketing systems
- IT asset management
- Computer hardware troubleshooting
- Cybersecurity and information-security practices

- Relevant college-level courses or technical training in computer systems, programming, networking, or information technology.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
