Lead Renovator / Multi-Skilled Carpenter

Riteway Construction & Maintenance Inc. is looking for an experienced, highly skilled Lead Renovator / Multi-Skilled Carpenter to join our growing team in Toronto and the GTA.

This is a hands-on position for an experienced renovation professional who is confident working independently and has strong abilities across multiple areas of residential renovation.

We are not looking for a general labourer or someone who simply has some construction experience. We are looking for someone with excellent hands-on skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to walk into a renovation project, understand what needs to be done, and complete the work properly.

The right candidate takes pride in their workmanship, understands residential construction from demolition through finishing, and is comfortable working in clients' homes.

RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of renovation and construction work, including:

- Rough and finish carpentry
- Wood and light-gauge framing
- Interior doors, jambs, casing and hardware
- Baseboards, shoe moulding, crown moulding and other trim work
- Drywall installation, repairs, patching and preparation
- Cabinetry, vanities and millwork installation
- Flooring installation and repairs
- Tile installation and repairs
- Blocking, backing and miscellaneous carpentry
- Demolition and preparation work
- Caulking and finishing work
- Painting and touch-ups when required
- Minor renovation repairs and deficiency work
- Installation of accessories, fixtures and finishing components
- Reading drawings, measurements and project specifications
- Preparing basic material lists and identifying materials required to complete assigned work




- Troubleshooting unexpected site conditions and developing practical solutions
- Maintaining a clean, organized and qualified job site
- Protecting clients' homes and finished surfaces while working
- Working alongside project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors and other Riteway team members

Licensed electrical, plumbing and other regulated trade work will be completed by the appropriate licensed trades. However, general knowledge of these systems and the ability to coordinate work around them is a solid asset.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who is genuinely skilled with their hands.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Minimum 10 years of hands-on renovation/construction experience preferred
- Strong rough and finish carpentry skills
- Strong understanding of residential renovations
- Excellent trim and finishing abilities
- Experience with framing, drywall, doors, flooring, cabinetry and general renovation work
- Ability to measure, lay out and complete work accurately
- Strong knowledge of hand and power tools
- Ability to diagnose problems and determine solutions without requiring constant direction
- Ability to complete work neatly and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail
- Pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team




- Professional attitude when dealing with homeowners and clients
- Ability to keep work areas organized and clean
- Good communication skills
- Dependability and strong attendance
- Valid driver's licence
- Ability to travel to job sites throughout Toronto and the GTA

TOOLS Candidates should own and maintain the core hand and power tools normally required for professional renovation work.

Specialty equipment may be provided depending on the project.

IMPORTANT

This position is intended for an experienced renovation professional.

If your experience is primarily general labour, demolition, material handling or assisting other trades, this position will likely not be the right fit.

We need someone who can be assigned renovation work and be trusted to complete it properly, neatly and efficiently without constant supervision.

COMPENSATION

$38.00–$48.00 per hour, depending on experience, skill level and demonstrated abilities.

Full-time work available.

Compensation will be based on actual hands-on ability and experience.
