What you will do:
Reporting to the Manager, Licensing and Standards, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Enforce the regulations of the Snow and Ice By-law on all city sidewalks through the issuance of orders and tickets and by facilitating sidewalk clean-ups.
- When violations are observed, interact directly with person(s) to ensure compliance with by-laws is achieved
- Manually and electronically record information/facts with respect to investigation.
- Enforce parking restrictions on all city streets, private property, and City parking lots through the issuance of penalty notices (parking tickets).
- Provide back-up to other enforcement officers as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- A post-secondary diploma in Police Foundations, Law and Security or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years experience in municipal law enforcement, security and/or other municipal operations; an equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, to deal effectively with the public in a non-confrontational manner.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to properly complete documentation.
- Strong task management skills and ability to complete work within deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and solid keyboarding skills.
- Valid MTO ‘G’ class driver’s licence in good standing with driver’s abstract acceptable to the City (maximum of 3 demerit points; maximum of 2 convictions within the previous 36 months; no driving related criminal code convictions within the previous 36 months; and no ignition interlock restrictions) is required to perform the job.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
- Strong commitment to delivering quality customer service.

- A Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City.
