The Pharmacy
Assistant, Infusion and Compounding supports the preparation, processing, packaging, and distribution of sterile and non-sterile compounded medications and infusion therapies for residents living in Long-Term Care (LTC), Retirement and other institutional settings. Working closely with pharmacists, regulated pharmacy technicians, nursing teams, and facility staff, this role ensures medications are prepared accurately, delivered on time, and compliant with all regulatory, quality, and patient safety standards. The successful candidate plays a key role in supporting continuity of care for LTC residents by managing medication orders, coordinating facility deliveries, maintaining inventory and cleanroom operations, and assisting with compounding activities in accordance with NAPRA, Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP), and organizational standards.

Use eMAR platforms, including PointClickCare and Med-e-Care, and coordinate with LTC facilities, clinicians, and healthcare partners to ensure accurate, timely order fulfillment. Prepare non-sterile compounded medications and assist with sterile compounds and infusion therapies in accordance with approved formulations, SOPs, training, and certification requirements.
Perform aseptic preparation in an ISO Class 5 environment following successful completion of required competency assessments and certification. Package medications, coordinate deliveries to LTC homes, and maintain accurate compounding, batch, preparation, maintenance, and quality assurance records. support environmental monitoring and scheduled maintenance in compliance with NAPRA, OCP, infection prevention, and internal quality standards. Manage inventory activities, including receiving deliveries, replenishing and rotating stock, monitoring expiry dates, reporting discrepancies, and ensuring proper storage.
Follow all pharmacy, workplace safety, infection prevention, confidentiality,
and PHIPA requirements while maintaining collaborative relationships with healthcare partners, facility staff, residents, and families. Participate in the on-call rotation and perform other duties as assigned. Strong knowledge of LTC pharmacy operations, medication distribution, resident safety, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills when working with LTC facility staff and healthcare providers.
High School
Diploma required.
Pharmacy Assistant
Certificate from an accredited program preferred. Minimum 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a long-term care, specialty, infusion, or compounding pharmacy environment preferred.
Experience supporting LTC medication systems and facility workflows considered a strong asset.
Experience working with eMAR platforms and Kroll pharmacy software systems preferred. Ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods within pharmacy and cleanroom environments. Ability to bend, crouch, stretch, and reach as required for inventory management cleanroom and non-sterile room maintenance activities.
Ability to wear required cleanroom attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods. Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for detailed compounding, packaging, and labeling activities.
