Job Summary:
CultureLink’s IT Security Bridge Training project assists newcomer professionals in finding and retaining employment in the cybersecurity field, by providing industry specific training, mentoring, networking opportunities, and insight into the Canadian workplace and job strategies. The Program Worker works in a team to plan, promote, carry out and document program activities.
In-person work at one or more sites will be required, one evening shift is typically schedule each week.
Maintaining positive relationships with CultureLink colleagues and external partners is essential to program success. All agency staff are also expected to support each other and to collaborate on agency-wide events.
Duties
- Outreach to Internationally trained professionals through presentations, advertising, networks, social media and word of mouth.
- Build effective partnership with settlement and community service organizations to promote our services and build strategic partnerships.
- Develop quality promotional materials and distribute them through diverse channels; organize promotional events.
- Conduct client intake and referrals to appropriate community and settlement services
- Apply a Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) and client-centred approach when assessing needs, developing plans, and delivering services to ensure programming is inclusive and responsive to diverse client experiences
- Deliver information and orientation sessions
- Deliver employment workshops focused on technical skills relevant to the field
- Assess newcomer needs, interests, and goals to support appropriate mentor matching
- Recruit, screen, interview, train, orient, and provide ongoing support to volunteer mentors
- Match newcomers and volunteer mentors and monitor the progress and outcomes of mentorship relationships
- Coach mentors and mentees in establishing activity plans, addressing challenges, and achieving successful outcomes
- Organise volunteer appreciation activities and initiatives to recognize volunteer contribution
- Build effective connections with employers and industry industry stakeholders to offer networking events and other opportunities for clients
- Support clients in finding and retaining meaningful employment through employer connections and ongoing support.
- Maintain accurate and timely client records, case notes, program statistics, and service data in applicable reporting systems (e.g., OCMS) in compliance with funder and organizational requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate services, facilitate referrals, and support positive client outcomes.
- Support virtual and in-person program delivery using appropriate technology and online tools
- Participate in agency-wide initiatives, meetings, training, and other activities that contribute to CultureLink’s mission and strategic priorities

Required Work Capacities/Competencies
- Physical demands: sitting at a desk for computer work (50% of the workday) and meetings; lifting (files, laptop, and program supplies up to 5 kg); working in an open office
- Non-physical demands: travel between worksites and stakeholder sites; occasional deadlines; variety of tasks
- Social/emotional demands: teamwork; relationship/network-building; exposure to emotional situations; working closely with the public, with clients and with colleagues
- Cognitive/mental demands: attention to detail; self-supervision/autonomy; multitasking; organizational ability/time management, adaptability, sound judgement, effective written communication
Qualifications
- Post-secondary program or degree in a relevant field or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
- Minimum three years of community work experience supporting internationally trained professionals in finding employment.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Volunteer recruitment, engagement and management is an asset.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening within the past six month
- Ability to use digital outreach tools and social media (i.e., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
- Must be authorized to work in Canada
- Fluency in languages other than English is an asset.
