Recreation and leisure activities are vital to residents and families of Continuing Care Centres enabling residents to achieve optimal physical functioning, encourage and enhance mobility, and increase the residents’ mental and spiritual well-being.
The Recreation Therapy Worker will work with residents to determine their preference of recreational and leisure activities based on individual care plans; in collaboration with the nursing team, plan, develop, implement and evaluate various recreation services based on their needs, skills and abilities and interests. This may include small and large group activities and individual activity where appropriate; monitor community engagements for activities of daily living, to support resident’s participation in recreational activities Innuqatigiitsiarniq: respecting others, relationships and caring for people; documenting resident’s participation in recreational and leisure activities; maintain an inventory of supplies to ensure appropriate equipment is available to support recreational activities; complete and submit non-clinical Telehealth reports to the Manager as required; maintain an organized, clean and secure environment; and perform other duties as assigned.
