Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and energetic Sewing Instructor to inspire creativity and develop sewing skills among learners of all ages. In this role, you will lead engaging sewing classes, teach fundamental and advanced techniques, and foster a supportive workplace where students can express their individuality through fabric and thread. Your enthusiasm for sewing, combined with your ability to connect with learners, will help cultivate confidence and craftsmanship in every participant.

Duties

- Plan and deliver basic sewing lessons for beginner kids and adults
- Demonstrate sewing techniques, including machine operation, hand stitching, pattern making, and fabric selection
- Provide personalized guidance and constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and complete projects successfully
- Create a welcoming classroom environment that encourages creativity, patience, and collaboration among learners
- Incorporate related activities such as basic clothing alterations, or creative fabric arts to enrich the learning experience




- Maintain a safe workspace by ensuring proper use of equipment and adhering to safety protocols
- Support students in developing their own projects by offering advice on design, materials, and finishing touches

Requirements

- Proven experience in sewing, tailoring, or fashion design with the ability to teach others effectively
- Strong knowledge of sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, pattern drafting, and fabric properties
- Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to clearly demonstrate techniques and motivate learners of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and skill levels
- Enthusiasm for sharing your craft and inspiring others through hands-on instruction

** We are exploring this as a first time offering of sewing in our program line up. If we are able to find a suitable Instructor as well as obtain machines for the classes we would love to give it a try. CLASSES WOULD BE WEEKLY ON MONDAY EVENINGS between January & March.

Pay: $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2.0 per week

Work Location: In person
