Spawts Studio

Vancouver

Spawts Studio Inc. is a family-owned small business with over 23 years of experience crafting custom ceramic keepsakes. We’re a close-knit, team-driven studio that values reliability, efficiency, and precision in everything we do. Our mission is to create lasting memorial products that honor the cherished bonds between pet parents and their beloved companions. If you're detail-oriented, innovative, and energized by organizing information and systems, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re hiring a Systems Manager to own, maintain, troubleshoot, and continually improve the digital systems that keep our small business running. This is a hands-on and systems-heavy role. You’ll need to be just as confident optimizing Shopify, troubleshooting an app or integration, updating code, or building a new Google Sheets formula as you are mapping a process and finding a better way for it to work.

This is not a junior administrative or IT support role. You must bring experience developing and implementing workflow improvements, strong technical knowledge of Shopify and its ecosystem, and the ability to independently investigate problems and build solutions. We want someone who doesn’t simply maintain the systems they inherit, but continually asks how they could work better.

Position Overview

This is a full-time, in-person role based in our East Vancouver studio. You’ll maintain and improve the systems our team relies on to manage orders, clients, inventory, shipping, and other day-to-day operations.

A major focus is Shopify and its connected apps, extensions, and integrations, along with Google Workspace and systems such as ShipStation. You’ll make updates, troubleshoot problems, improve functionality, implement new tools and automations, and work with code when appropriate.

Some hands-on operational responsibilities may be part of the position where they connect directly to the systems you manage. This is not a full-time software development role - we’re looking for a technically confident and resourceful systems generalist who can solve most problems independently and recognize when specialized development requires an outside expert.

Key Responsibilities

- Shopify Management: Maintain and optimize Shopify, including configuration, updates, apps/extensions, integrations, troubleshooting, and functionality.
- Systems & Automation: Identify inefficient or repetitive processes and build better solutions using Shopify, Google Workspace, automations, formulas, scripts, and other tools.
- Google Workspace: Build and improve operational systems across Google Sheets and our broader Google Workspace.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Investigate problems, identify root causes, implement and test fixes.
- Apps & Integrations:

Manage connected business applications, including ShipStation and other third-party platforms.
- Workflow Improvement: Work with our team and management to understand how work moves through the studio and identify opportunities to make processes faster, clearer, and less prone to error.
- Documentation & SOPs: Document and maintain important systems and processes for long-term reliability.
- General Studio Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized workspace and assist with studio cleaning as part of the team.

Qualifications and Skills

- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets/Google Workspace
- Strong Shopify experience, including administration, apps/extensions, integrations, troubleshooting, and optimization
- Comfortable reading and editing code; experience with Shopify Liquid, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, APIs, scripts, or automation tools is an asset
- Ability to independently investigate technical problems and implement solutions
- Experience researching and implementing new software, apps, or technology
- Experience with ShipStation or comparable systems is an asset
- Fast typing skills: Minimum 50 WPM with 98% accuracy (typing test required - details below)
- Proven track record of workflow/process improvement
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Reside in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area

What Success Looks Like

- Our systems run cleaner, faster, and more reliably than when you started
- Shopify, Google Workspace, and connected applications are well-maintained and continually improved
- Manual or repetitive processes are replaced with smarter workflows or automations wherever practical
- Technical problems are investigated and solved rather than becoming permanent workarounds
- Team members rely on the tools, workflows, and SOPs you’ve built
- You make technology easier for the rest of our team to use, not more complicated

Personal Suitability

- Proven record of commitment and excellence, demonstrated through tenure in past roles
- Strong desire to be an integral part of a small business and contribute to a passionate, hardworking team
- Naturally curious about technology and motivated to understand how things work
- Enjoy figuring things out rather than accepting “this is how we’ve always done it”
- Able to balance optimization with practicality
- Self-directed, solutions-oriented,

and calm under pressure
- A strong communicator - in person, in writing, and in systems documentation
- Embrace diversity and contribute to an LGBTQ2SIA+ friendly workspace
