Speech-Language Pathologist Team Lead

Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) provides audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages, and speech-language pathology services to preschool children and adults. HSNS is funded by the NS Government to deliver integrated and standardized provincial services across 37 clinical sites, located in 26 communities. Nationally certified Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists, with support from Communication Disorder Technicians and Administrative Support Professionals, provide core services (prevention, diagnosis, and treatment), develop and monitor provincial clinical standards, and collaborate with partners to deliver a number of special programs (e.g., Autism, Stroke, Cochlear Implant).
Established in 1963, HSNS works to prevent and reduce the impact of communication disorders for Nova Scotians.

We are accepting applications for the regular, part time (0.8 FTE) position of Speech-Language Pathology Team Lead to support autism services at HSNS and within Provincial Preschool Autism Services. The home base is to be decided in discussion with the successful candidate.
Reporting to the assigned Manager and in collaboration with HSNS staff, HSNS management team, and external partners, the successful candidate will support clinical service delivery in the Provincial Preschool Autism Services model using change management principles and practices.
Responsibilities, in collaboration with internal and external partners, include:
- Reinforcing fidelity and consistency of programming across service streams;
- Supporting clinicians in skill development;
- Internal communication of autism supports and services;
- Some traveling across province to support clinicians.
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Registered member of the Nova Scotia Regulators of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology
- Minimum of five years autism-related clinical experience with a minimum of 1 year within Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia
- Experience in training and coaching other professionals
- Change management training or relevant experience
- Experience leading or working with an interdisciplinary team
- High level of expertise in delivery of Pivotal Response Treatment
- Experience in provision of alternative and augmentative communication systems
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility in work schedule to support clinicians across the province
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Assets
- Program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation skills
- Interpreting and explaining data related to client services
- Experience creating and sharing educational materials/resources
- Skills in interagency collaboration and community partnerships
- Ability to work in languages other than English
