Burrard Animal Hospital + Emergency is a fast-growing, AAHA-accredited 24-hour general and emergency service hospital in Vancouver. We are a fully paperless practice equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, including a comprehensive in-house lab, ultrasound, endoscopy, digital X-ray, CT scan, and Cornerstone software.

Our mission is to provide 24-hour veterinary care and comfort to pets through advanced diagnostics, routine services, and emergency care.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and organized Veterinary Receptionist to join our dynamic emergency and general practice team. As one of the first points of contact for our clients, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive experience for pets and their families.

In this role, you will:

- Provide exceptional customer service to clients in person and over the phone
- Greet clients and their pets with warmth, professionalism, and compassion
- Manage appointments, check-ins, check-outs, and client inquiries
- Support the flow of patients and clients through our busy hospital
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding appointments, services, estimates, and general inquiries
- Work closely with veterinarians, RVTs, veterinary assistants, and support staff to ensure excellent patient and client care
- Process payments, invoices, deposits, and other front-desk transactions accurately
- Maintain accurate client and patient information within our practice management system
- Assist with coordinating emergency and urgent-care cases in a calm and organized manner
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area




- Support the hospital team with administrative and client-service tasks as needed

What You Will Bring




- Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, medical reception, customer service, or a similar client-facing environment is an asset
- A genuine passion for providing exceptional customer service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle sensitive and emotional situations with empathy and professionalism
- Comfortable answering phones, managing multiple priorities, and assisting clients in person
- Solid computer skills and ability to learn new software and systems
- Previous experience with veterinary practice management software, including Cornerstone, is an asset
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
- Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Genuine interest in animal care and the veterinary industry
- Ability to build trusting relationships with clients through clear, compassionate, and authentic communication
- Flexibility to work in a 24-hour hospital environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
