Harvest Recycling is hiring a post-secondary student for a paid, hands-on environmental operations placement at our facility in Carseland, Alberta.
Position details
- Location: Carseland, Alberta, on-site
- Term: November 16, 2026–March 5, 2027
- Duration: 16 weeks
- Schedule: 30 hours per week
- Wage: $20 per hour
- Total hours: Approximately 480
- Official ECO Canada position: Waste-to-Fuel Production Labourer
Responsibilities
- Prepare, sort, and inspect waste-derived feedstock.
- Assist with operating conveyors, a hammer mill, and briquette-making equipment.
- Operate a skid steer after completing employer-provided training and authorization.
- Monitor feedstock condition and finished briquette quality.
- Record moisture levels, throughput, downtime, and production results.
- Conduct routine pre-use equipment inspections.
- Maintain an orderly production area and support preventative housekeeping.
- Follow PPE, equipment-guarding, lockout/tagout, and facility safety procedures.
- Help identify opportunities to improve production flow, material handling, and product quality.
Candidate requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary program related to environmental science, engineering, renewable energy, sustainability, manufacturing, operations, or another relevant discipline.
- Must remain enrolled throughout the placement.
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected refugee.
- Able to work safely in an active industrial environment.
- Comfortable performing physical work and learning to operate industrial equipment.
- Reliable transportation to the Carseland facility.
- Available for 30 hours per week during the full placement.
- Eligible and willing to complete ECO Canada’s participant application.
Formal registration in a school co-op program is not required.
