Join Our Team: Hiring an Engine Technician – Pro Spec Diesel!PAY RANGE: $37/hr – $42/hrHIRING POSITIONSParts Manager – Full TimePOSITION OVERVIEWWe are currently seeking a Parts Manager who is organized, accountable, and committed to keeping our heavy-duty repair operation supplied with the right parts at the right time. This role is responsible for parts purchasing, inventory control, vendor relationships, pricing, returns, cores, and the day-to-day performance of the Parts Department. The Parts Manager must balance urgency, accuracy, cost control, and service to support technician productivity, customer uptime, and company profitability.The Parts Manager plays a key role in keeping repairs moving by working closely with the service Manager, foreman, service advisor, technicians, vendors, and administration to ensure parts needs are identified, sourced, received, tracked, and communicated accurately.ABOUT PRO SPEC DIESELWe are Red Deer's leading heavy-duty truck and trailer repair shop. We provide comprehensive heavy-duty truck and trailer repair services, including CVIP inspections, full equipment maintenance, major overhauls, performance tuning, and mobile repair services.Our mission is to deliver top-quality repairs with efficient turnaround, earning customer trust every time.We believe in helping every team member reach their personal, professional, and financial goals through the work we do together.Our core values are the backbone of our business and guide our hiring process: we take ownership, move with urgency, perform with precision, support our team, deliver results, commit to constant improvement, and always maintain integrity.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKETechnicians receive the correct parts with minimal unnecessary delay so repair work keeps movingInventory is accurate, organized, appropriately stocked, and aligned with current shop demandParts purchasing, pricing, returns, cores, and vendor credits are actively managed to protect company profitabilityStrong relationships are maintained with customers, vendors, and Pro Spec staff through clear, professional, proactive communicationThe Parts Department operates with ownership, urgency, accountability, and consistent follow-throughPERFORMANCE OBJECTIVESLead the daily operation of the Parts Department and ensure parts requests, orders, receiving, stocking, returns, and internal distribution are completed accurately and with urgencySource and purchase heavy-duty truck, trailer, engine, drivetrain, electrical, and related parts while considering price, quality, availability, freight, warranty, and supplier reliabilityMaintain accurate inventory levels, part locations, costs, pricing, and stocking quantities based on current shop usage and company needsMonitor parts gross profit, purchasing costs, sell pricing, discounts, freight, and other factors that affect department profitabilityManage parts warranty claims and warranty documentation, process eligible warranty parts, and ensure return cores and warranty components are packaged, shipped back, tracked,
and credited through completionBuild and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, vendors, and Pro Spec staff while comparing purchasing options, negotiating where appropriate, and addressing recurring pricing, delivery, quality, or service concernsCoordinate with the Service Manager, Foreman, Service Advisors, and technicians to anticipate parts requirements, communicate availability, and reduce technician delays caused by missing or incorrect partsReceive and verify incoming parts for quantity, condition, accuracy, cost, and correct assignment to inventory, customer units, estimates, or work ordersMaintain a clean, organized, labeled, and efficient parts room, receiving area, and inventory system that supports fast and accurate parts accessLead, coach, and mentor Parts Department team members, including performing scheduled one-on-ones, providing performance feedback, maintaining accountability, supporting training, and following through on individual development goalsParticipate in KPI, metrics and team meetings, understand current company-set targets, consistently complete company-supplied training, and actively seek new SOPs, systems, tools, and process improvements that increase Parts Department effectivenessPerform additional duties as assignedKEY COMPETENCIESStrong heavy-duty truck, trailer, engine, and related parts knowledgeOrganized and able to manage multiple orders, priorities, vendors, and deadlines at onceHigh attention to detail in part numbers, quantities, costing, pricing, inventory, and documentationStrong purchasing judgment with an understanding of cost, margin, availability, freight, and overall valueClear, qualified communication and relationship-building with customers, vendors, Pro Spec staffAccountable, self-motivated, and willing to take ownership of department outcomesAble to lead, coach, develop, and hold team members accountable in a positive and professional mannerUrgency-focused and understands how parts availability affects customer uptime, billed hours, and shop productionStrong problem-solving skills and able to find practical alternatives when parts are unavailable or delayedComfortable using shop management software, vendor catalogues, email, spreadsheets, and digital communication toolsComfortable working toward measurable KPIs, current company-set targets, and continuous improvementPositive, team-first, growth-minded, and committed to company-supplied training, continuous self-improvement, mentoring others, and finding new ways to increase department effectivenessEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent required5+ years of heavy-duty truck, trailerPrevious parts leadership, supervisory,
