Schedule: Day, early morning, evening, weekend and holiday shifts may be required depending on store operations.

Job Duties

- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of bakery clerks and bakers during assigned shifts to ensure customers are served efficiently.
- Assign counter, product display and cleaning duties to staff and adjust work assignments according to customer traffic and operational needs.
- Assist with preparing staff schedules and coordinating breaks, shift changes and coverage for the bakery’s retail team.
- Monitor front-counter product levels throughout the day and coordinate with bakery production staff when bread and other baked goods need to be replenished.
- Maintain appropriate levels of retail products, packaging and store supplies, check incoming deliveries and identify items that need to be reordered.
- Handle routine customer requests, complaints, product availability issues and transaction concerns, and refer more serious matters to the Bakery Manager when required.
- Monitor routine payments, refunds and merchandise returns and ensure established cash-handling and POS procedures are followed.
- Train new bakery clerks and bakers on customer service, POS procedures, product knowledge, food handling, store policies and opening and closing routines.




- Monitor employee performance during assigned shifts and provide day-to-day guidance to help maintain service and operational standards.
- Prepare and maintain routine records relating to sales, inventory, product waste, merchandising and staffing matters for management review.
- Ensure bread displays, shelves, promotional signage, checkout areas and other customer-facing areas are properly stocked, clean and maintained throughout the day.
- Perform bakery clerks , bakers and customer service duties during busy periods and assist with opening and closing the bakery when scheduled.

Employment Requirements

- Completion of secondary school is required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in retail sales, customer service, bakery retail operations or a related field is required.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is an asset.
- Strong communication, customer service and organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise employees, organize work assignments and respond to day-to-day retail operational issues.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail bakery environment.
- Availability to work adaptable shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
