We are seeking a dedicated teacher to lead our alternative learning program. In this specialized role, you will work with students in a flexible, non-traditional setting to help them experience academic success. The applicant will directly address learning gaps, tailor coursework to individual needs, and provide a supportive environment that integrates self paced and individual learning opportunities as well as mental health and behavioral strategies into daily learning.

With both schools located in the City of Cold Lake - Cold Lake Junior High School has approximately 500 students in grades 7 to 9. CLJHS is an inspiring environment where students are proud to learn, fostering student potential through academic responsibility, critical thinking and moral citizenship.

School has approximately 580 students in grades 10-12. CLHS is an innovative, collaborative and passionate in the delivery of high quality education for every student. Reporting directly to the principal, the successful candidate will: Ensure effective planning, instructions and assessment for students Strong subject knowledge in high school Math and Science Adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs and IPP requirements Flexibility to teach a range of high school subjects Develop and nurture a positive, supportive and inclusive classroom environment Create the classroom conditions for students to achievethe outcomes as outlined in the Alberta Curriculum Interact positivelyand effectively with a diverse student and parent population Work collaboratively as a member of a professional learningcommunity Nurturestrong relationships with students, staff, parents and the school community The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: Possess a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate Previous experience teachingthe assigned courses/subjects is considered an asset Experience or an interest in teaching Career and Technology Studies (CTS) and/or Fine Arts is considered an asset (e.g., Cosmetology, Art, Industrial Arts, Music, or holding a Food Safe Certification The ability to achieveAlberta Education's Teaching Quality Standards Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills Commitmentto lifelong learning and skilled improvement
