EDES 361-001. Teaching Secondary English 1.
Description: Examination of appropriate materials related to the high school English programs; exploration of various techniques of teaching language, literature, writing and dramatics in the secondary school.
This course is not Team Taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs)
- Education
- 1.MA in a relevant field (i.e. English Language Arts-Secondary programs).
- 2.PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.
- Experience
- 1.Expert knowledge of: Quebec Education Plan (QEP) Secondary English Language Arts (SELA) competencies & Progression of Learning. Instructional strategies for ELA. Methods of evaluation in different ELA contexts . Lesson designs and learning evaluation situations using Understanding by Design framework.
- 2.Experience as a Secondary master/teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system.
- 3.Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation .
- Other
- 1.Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level.
- 2.Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion.
- 3.Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
- 4.Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.
- 5.Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.

- 1.Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors
- 2.Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting in advance of course start date
- 3.A commitment to working collaboratively in planning and delivering the course
