Defence Construction Canada (DCC) is looking for a Coordinator, Construction Services. This is for major capital infrastructure work in Comox, British Columbia. The job is ongoing. This role supports the Canadian MultiMission Aircraft (CMMA) Major Capital Infrastructure Team.
You will handle consulting design and construction contracts tied to a key national defence infrastructure program. You will work with contractors, consultants, client partners, and site staff. You will also keep track of contract needs, timelines, quality checks, risks, and other work linked to construction.

Job Description
In the role of Coordinator, Construction Services, you will help the Canadian MultiMission Aircraft (CMMA) Major Capital Infrastructure Team.
You will handle the paperwork and coordination for design and build work done by outside firms.
Work under this role can touch civil and electrical projects at airfields. You will oversee contracts that are medium in complexity.
This includes construction work, skilled services, and ongoing service agreements during the build phase.
Your aim is to support the team in meeting contract terms and quality requirements.
You will speak often with contractors, consultants, and ClientPartners.
These talks will cover how the work is going and whether it matches the contract documents.
You will also discuss changes to the scope, progress billing, and other items that come up during delivery.
Within the limits of your delegated authority, you will watch for contract risks.
You will coordinate your tasks with the site group and with other service areas.
Responsibilities
You may be asked to do some of the tasks below:
Handle contract documents and make sure they follow the agreed terms and set quality levels.
Work through daily contract issues and get them resolved.
Track project timing and keep schedules under control.
Talk with ClientPartner contacts about contract matters, including concerns and possible risks.
Draft, review, and send change orders when scope or terms shift.
Keep up site logs, such as photos and daily or weekly activity notes.
Coordinate with other service groups and on site teams as needed.
Build and keep solid working ties inside DCC and also with industry, ClientPartners, and key stakeholders.
Help ensure quality is met, based on company rules and ClientPartner expectations.
Keep an eye on contract risk areas and help reduce exposure.
Manage contract financial tracking and related reporting.
Set up or support review efforts tied to construction and arrange third party tests.
Support health and safety work, industrial security needs, and environmental rule compliance.
Help with proposals and growth work, or lead parts of it.
Share practical guidance with staff and with ClientPartners when asked.
Take on any other tasks assigned by the role or manager.
Requirements
You need at least a college diploma in engineering, applied science, or a close related field. You also need four years of work in a relevant area. An equal mix of schooling and experience can be accepted.
A relevant certificate is a plus. For example, Certified Engineering Technologist.
You should know how construction works in real life. This includes good job practices, common methods, new trends, and the rules that apply. You should also understand building products and materials.
You are expected to understand project work, contract work, and risk handling. Health and safety work is also part of the knowledge needed.
You will be able to use standard computer tools and current operating systems.
You should be able to read drawings and written specs. You must also be ready to use project, contract, and risk steps on both construction work and consultant agreements.
The job is mainly on a work site. Usual safety gear is required. There may be office time too. Some travel is also possible.
