Serve those in need as a Shelter Worker at Vancouver Harbour Light. This position includes responsibilities like client monitoring, support, and maintaining safety in a 24/7 facility.
The Salvation Army is currently building a talent pipeline for future Shelter Worker openings. This role emphasizes providing compassionate support and a safe environment for clients in emergency shelter settings. You will work directly under the Shelter Operations Manager and take an active role in intake, monitoring, and documentation tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and ensure safety of clients and facility
• Conduct client interviews and assess suitability for programs
• Provide emotional support and referrals as needed
• Maintain daily logs and incident reports accurately
• Participate in team efforts to support a safe environment
Requirements:
• Minimum three months of experience in social services
• Robust interpersonal and communication skills
• Training in First Aid, CPR, and Naloxone preferred
• Basic to intermediate computer skills required
• Commitment to The Salvation Army’s mission and standards
