Civil is recruiting a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. If you are an experienced and qualified Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic, seize this opportunity to work on projects that matter to you and to the communities in which we work. Specializing in heavy civil infrastructure construction, mining applications and energy development, Bird Heavy Civil is a leading supplier to Canada's resource industries.
Having been in business for 80 plus years and offices located throughout Canada, Bird Heavy Civil offers a secure and challenging work environment. A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience working in a heavy civil construction environment performing regular maintenance duties associated with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi,
and John Deere construction equipment. Fall Protection, Power Lines Hazards, Air Brake Endorsement, WHMIS 2015, Utility Safety Training, First Aid, and Lock-Out/Tag-Out Training would be required.
Familiar with Safety Instrumented Systems, My Komatsu, and Cummins computer applications. Knowledge of standard Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and practices in the construction industry. Must be able to work on rotational basis (14-14 FI-FO) on remote sites/camp accommodations.
Must be able to work day and night shift. Valid driver’s license or equivalent would be an asset. Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair of equipment in a heavy civil construction environment. Testing repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications.
Exercise extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety. Attend daily pre-shift meetings and toolbox meetings. We built our name on quality.
