We’re recruiting aJunior, Intermediate, or Senior Estimatorfor our client, a Vancouver-based civil construction company delivering infrastructure projects across the Lower Mainland.Key ResponsibilitiesTender Document Review & Scope Definition : Reviews tender documents, specifications, drawings, and attends pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and effort for estimating.Productivity & Cost Analysis : Provides productivity analyses for various scopes of work for estimate preparation.Estimate Development & Team Coordination : Organizes estimating teams to prepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid.Client, Vendor & Stakeholder Consultation : Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates.Prequalification & Tender Strategy Leadership : Leads prequalification and proposal based tendering opportunities.Pre-Construction Handover Leadership : Leads pre-construction handover meetings to review project scope with project delivery team.Quantity Take-Off & Material Estimation : Prepares take-offs and calculates material quantities as required.Contract Support & Change Order Management : Follows awarded contracts as assigned to assist with extra work items, change orders, or re-pricing due to design changes.Estimating Documentation & Cost Database Maintenance : Maintains files of working documents as back-up for estimated figures, including current/accurate information on prices from suppliers and subcontractors.Trade Quote Evaluation & Value Analysis : Evaluates trade quotes and proposals, and prepares quote comparison sheets to determine best value.Estimate Close-Out & Bid Submission : Participates in estimate close-out and submissions.Post-Bid Performance Analysis :



Completes post-bid analyses as required on jobs bid.Executive Support & General Duties : Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Construction.Rapid Problem Solving:Demonstrate rapid comprehension and fast problem-solving. Maintain strong command of budgets and cost projections, scheduling, organization, and planning ahead so work stays predictable, trackable, and well-managed.Self-Directed Execution:Operate independently with minimal supervision. Take full ownership of outcomes, anticipate needs, and execute without requiring constant input, reminders, or handholding.Cross-Functional Coordination:Lead through people and drive outcomes across teams. Coordinate effectively with superintendents, crews, project coordinators, clients, and internal stakeholders—keeping alignment, momentum, and accountability.Transparent, Professional Communication:Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal form. Provide concise updates and document decisions.Approachable & Accessible:Be accessible, collaborative, and easy to work with.

This is not a clock-watching environment.RequirementsMANDATORY:Experience/Background:Civil Construction:Experience in civil construction estimating for infrastructure projects including earthworks, road building, excavation & shoring, and underground utilities.Tools/Skills:Construction/Project Software:Proficient with software such as HCSS Suite, B2W, Bluebeam, Agtek, Spectrum, Microsoft Project, Adobe, and Microsoft Office programs.Commercial & Financial Acumen:Strong understanding of cost structures, productivity analysis, subcontractor levelling, margin protection, and risk evaluation. Ability to think strategically while protecting profitability.Problem Solving:Strong problem-solving skills with proven ability to assess drawings, specifications, and constructability challenges and drive effective pricing solutions.Organizational Management:Superior organizational and management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tenders, maintain audit-ready working files, and meet strict submission deadlines.Additional Requirements:Driver’s License:Valid Driver’s License required.PREFERRED:Unionized Labor Environment:Knowledge and understanding of a unionized labor environment.Post-Secondary Education:Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering.Compensation ranges from$70,000 to $140,000+ CAD, depending on experience.#J-18808-Ljbffr
