The catchment area services by Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital span from the Port Au Port Peninsula east to Gallants and south to the Jeffrey’s‑St. Fintan’s area, serving a population of approximately 24,000.Position DetailsPosition:Casual Security OfficerSite:Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital & surrounding area.Overtime:Overtime after 48 hoursHours:15‑20 hours per weekPayrate:$19.90 per hourPosting Date:February 11, 2026External Closing Date:March 31, 2026.Schedule ExampleAs needed.Key ResponsibilitiesPatrol hospital grounds: conduct regular rounds of the hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.Monitor surveillance systems: operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.Access control: monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.Respond to emergencies: act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.Provide customer service: greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.Conflict resolution: de‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts,



and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.Report writing: document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.Collaboration with hospital staff: work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.Enforce hospital policies: ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed and address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.PrerequisitesClear criminal record check & vulnerable sector checkValid first aid & CPR – Level C (from a CSA‑approved vendor)Tuberculosis (TB) screening: all healthcare workers must undergo assessment for tuberculosis.Vaccination documentation: proof of completion of the full series of childhood/primary vaccinations is required.TDAP vaccine: one dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (TDAP) vaccine is required upon reaching 18 years of age.Booster requirement: a booster dose of tetanus toxoid‑reduced diphtheria toxoid (TDAP) is required every 10 years.Valid class 5 driver licence and willingness to take shifts at sites within a reasonable driving distance.English (oral and written)
