Xona is the navigational intelligence company bringing real-time, centimeter-level certainty to any device, anywhere on Earth.
With Pulsar – the world’s most advanced PNT satellite infrastructure in Low Earth Orbit – Xona will offer a future-proof, backwards-compatible global positioning system optimized for absolute precision, superior power, and robust protection.
Xona's Manufacturing team is responsible for developing and implementing the processes used to manufacture, assemble, test, and integrate the mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware that goes into our satellites. We are looking for a Manufacturing Technician to support hands-on assembly, inspection, testing, and production activities for satellite subsystems and flight hardware.
The Manufacturing Technician will support the development and manufacturing of satellite subsystem prototypes at Xona Space Systems' Montreal facility. The technician will work closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to assemble, modify, inspect, test, and troubleshoot prototype components and subassemblies.
The role requires robust hands-on skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with precision hardware in a controlled manufacturing environment. The technician will contribute to the transition of prototype designs into repeatable manufacturing processes by providing practical feedback on assembly methods, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions.
Responsibilities
Assemble prototype components, mechanisms, electronics, and satellite subsystem subassemblies according to engineering drawings, procedures, and work instructions.
Support engineering builds from initial prototypes through production readiness,
including parts preparation, kitting, tooling, and equipment setup.
Perform precision mechanical and electronic assembly, including soldering, wire/harness preparation, connector installation, and basic electrical assembly and testing.
Perform installation, adjustment, dimensional and visual inspection using appropriate hand tools, torque tools, measurement, and inspection equipment.
Support prototype functional and environmental testing, including vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal shock, and qualification activities.
Troubleshoot assembly, electronic, and test issues; identify manufacturing and quality concerns and provide hands-on feedback to Engineering and Manufacturing.
Build and modify fixtures, tooling, and simple prototypes, and operate prototype manufacturing equipment such as 3D printers and workshop equipment.
Support the development and improvement of manufacturing documentation while maintaining traceability and following ESD, clean room, FOD, safety, and other applicable requirements.
Qualifications
Technical diploma or college diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electromechanics, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or a related field.
Experience with mechanical assembly, prototyping, manufacturing, or testing.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings,
assembly drawings, and work instructions.
Experience using precision hand tools and measurement equipment.
Experience with torque-controlled assembly is an asset.
Experience with aerospace, space, medical, automotive, robotics, or other precision manufacturing environments is an asset.
J-STD-001 Class 3 certification is an asset.
Experience with environmental testing or qualification activities is an asset.
Knowledge of ESD, FOD control, clean-room practices, and hardware traceability is an asset.
