Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 10/16/2026 About this opportunity Production Technicians focus on maximizing production by ensuring the safe and effective operation of process and utility equipment. This includes performance monitoring, completing start-up/shut-down, and preparing equipment for maintenance/inspection in accordance with Cenovus Energy policies and procedures. Adhering to regulatory requirements and offshore industry standards is required to achieve established objectives in the safest, most productive, and cost-effective manner possible.
This is a full-time, permanent position working offshore 12-hours per day on a 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off rotation. Execute daily operations in compliance with Work Control and Permit to Work (PTW) requirements, including acting as Area Authority for assigned FPSO process areas and managing plant, equipment, and mechanical isolations. Conduct routine field rounds of the production and turret facilities to monitor plant conditions, identify abnormalities, and support safe and efficient operations.
Operate FPSO processing facilities safely and effectively by monitoring and controlling processing equipment, protective systems, including Fire & Gas and ESD, and associated support systems in accordance with approved procedures. Proactively identify and respond to abnormal plant or production conditions to protect personnel, maintain plant integrity, and support production continuity. Perform first-line maintenance within designated limits of competence and promptly identify and report equipment faults or failures to maximize plant availability and reliability.
Take responsibility for assigned FPSO areas, maintain accurate daily logbooks, and remain aware of ongoing work activities that may impact process systems. Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safe work practices, and environmental protection, including monitoring routine discharges such as produced water to support regulatory compliance. Participate in emergency response activities, drills, and training, including assigned fire team and helideck team duties, and actively contribute to the onboard Safety Awareness Program.
Develop a thorough understanding of Control Room Operator (CRO)
responsibilities and work toward achieving competent CRO status as part of ongoing development. Legally authorized to work in Canada 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency or Technologist/Industrial/Marine Certification. ~2 years of related experience preferred (oil and gas industry, offshore experience, industrial, marine, etc.). ~ Experience with permit-to-work systems is considered an asset. ~ Training as required by the CAPP Standard Practice for Training and Qualifications of Personnel, other regulatory requirements, and company-required training as per the approved Cenovus Training Matrix. This training is to be provided by Cenovus to the successful candidate. ~ Thorough knowledge of the installation process and utilities systems, and be able to provide maintenance support to various equipment when required. ~ Strong interpersonal capabilities Ability to work with high-functioning teams Planning and organizational skills Attention to detail and sound judgement/decision making This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing.
You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel. Consistent with the Accords Act, residents of Newfoundland and Labrador specifically and Canada generally, who are qualified, will be given first consideration for training and employment.
