Every year CHEO helps more than 500,000 children and youth from Eastern Ontario, western Quebec, Nunavut and Northern Ontario. Perform procedures within the laboratory in accordance with protocol and licensing regulations Operate and maintain all equipment necessary to carry out these procedures Recognize the need for additional procedures and performs tests as required Identify technical problems or unusual test results and take appropriate corrective action Conform to all laboratory safety regulations, and follow specific instructions of the designated safety officer Perform additional duties to ensure the effective functioning of the laboratory (e.g. cleaning equipment,



maintaining solutions/supplies, keeping a clean and safe work place) Participate in the quality assurance program (e.g. routine QA activities of the laboratory, review of procedures, and timely reporting of discrepancies and incidents) Degree in Laboratory/Health Related Field. (Minimum of 1 year experience in a Biochemistry laboratory and/or high throughput laboratory with complex batch workflows (Preferred) Experience in laboratory/test method development and optimization (Preferred) Working knowledge of mass spectrometry and chromatography technology and techniques (Preferred) Demonstrated team work, initiative, and customer service skills (Essential) Accuracy and precision in performing laboratory procedures (Essential) Criminal Record Check (Level 1) (Essential) Bilingualism (French/English) (Preferred) *Please note you will be represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). Pre‑screening might include testing.

This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested. Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider.
