ABC Recycling is seeking a Shear Operator to operate equipment and the mobile shear-attached machine along with thumb and bucket attachments. The job holder will be responsible for secure operation of a mid-sized excavator with a mobile shear attachment, sorting, and processing scrap metal to specifications. This is a full time, year-round job opportunity with many opportunities for increased earnings through overtime and site-based project work.
The ideal candidate is attentive, flexible, and wanting a long-term career.
Sorts and processes materials to customer specifications using various attachments such as the bucket and thumb and Labounty shear. Loads and unloads materials from and into various bins, dumps, trailers, and rail cars.
Assesses situational risks and mitigates safety and environmental concerns. Assists in the analysis of process improvements and development of solutions. Self-manages when operating off site. 2+ years experience operating different types of excavators, material handlers, and other heavy equipment such as wheel loaders. ~ Must have previous work experience using bucket and thumb. ~ Prior experience with scrap metal recycling, operating a shear attachment or demolition would be a definite asset. ~ Mechanical aptitude coupled with strong hand/eye coordination. ~ Good interpersonal and customer service skills. ~ Flexibility with work shifts and ability to travel occasionally.
