Position: Payroll Administrator - TEMPORARY- Board Office Hours: 35.00 Monday-Friday - 12 Months Start Date: As soon as possible Salary: $35.14 Per Hour Reports to and works under the direction of the Payroll supervisor. Performs a wide variety of detailed accounting and clerical duties related to the preparation and processing of district payrolls. Prepares, balances, and processes full-cycle computerized payrolls, including benefits billing payrolls, in a multi-contract workplace.

Analyzes, verifies, and amends timesheets and other payroll related documents to ensure accuracy; inputs data into computerized system to support the payroll function. Calculates allowances, advances, vacation and sick leave payout, severance pay and deductions; Ensures compliance with all contractual and legal requirements and adapts to new and changing policies and procedures. Responsible for the monthly payroll summary of salary, experience and seniority, benefit costs, new hires, assignment changes, and terminations using the payroll system and spreadsheets.

Communicates with a wide variety of external/internal stakeholders both by telephone and in person.



Sets up and maintains a variety of computerized payroll related tables and records relevant to the payroll function; creates and uses spreadsheets with complex formulas for a variety of reconciliations, payments, and adjustments. Prepares, calculates, and reconciles pension reporting, adhering to BC Pension Corporation rules; responds to employee and BC Pension Corporation inquiries related to service and salary; prepares and submits employee forms for leave purchases, terminations, and retirements.

Calculates, records and balances payroll accumulations including sick leave credits, days worked, pension credits, leaves of absence, WorkSafe BC absences and vacation entitlements; Calculates and remits all related payables within deadlines including statutory deductions, pension, union dues, benefit deductions, and voluntary deductions, etc. performs a variety of clerical duties, and when required provides relief to other sections of the division. Completion of 1 year of relevant post secondary education, and completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner(PCP) certification program. Minimum of 5 years recent payroll experience which includes several years of experiece processing multiple computerized payrolls in a multiple unionized setting.

Experience using word processing, database and spreadsheet applications. Ability to analyze a variety of data, perform audits, research and solve problems in accordance with established accounting/ payroll procedures. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to set priorities.

Ability to operate a variety of office technology. Some positions may require the knowledge of a language other than English.
