- The candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in P&C; commissioning for projects.
- The candidate will be responsible for acting as Professional of Record (PoR) for commissioning results.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading testing and commissioning activities for complex P&C; systems and equipment.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and reviewing commissioning and staging plans in coordination with engineering teams and the Control Center.
- The candidate will be responsible for reviewing and approving commissioning deliverables and test results.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing oversight and technical guidance for commissioning activities.
- The candidate will provide support to field commissioning teams and resolve technical issues throughout construction and commissioning.
- The candidate will be responsible for participating in constructability reviews and project planning.
- The candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining commissioning standards, procedures, and best practices.
- The candidate will be responsible for mentoring team members and providing technical leadership.
- The candidate will be responsible for validating field test results and providing final approval as PoR.
- The candidate will work with Field Operations, Quality Management, and project teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- The candidate will be responsible for preparing signed and sealed engineering deliverables in accordance with EGBC and BC Hydro standards.
- The candidate will contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, workflows, and quality practices.
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying risks and developing practical, value-driven engineering solutions.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading meetings, delivering presentations, and representing the team in technical forums.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting departmental objectives and performance goals.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by Canadian Universities.
- The candidate must be registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Skilled Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.
- The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in transmission systems, industrial control systems, cybersecurity, or systems engineering.
- The candidate must have at least 4 years of experience leading and coordinating P&C; commissioning on medium to large projects.
- The candidate must have a strong understanding of transmission system operations and multidisciplinary project impacts.
- The candidate should have experience in P&C; design, settings, or systems engineering, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have strong commissioning experience with P&C; systems, which is highly desirable.
- The candidate must have excellent leadership, communication, and technical writing skills.
- The candidate must have a solid understanding of project management principles.
- The candidate should have familiarity with BC Hydro design practices and project delivery processes, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate must maintain a Driver’s License: Class 5 In Good Standing as a condition of employment for this job.
