Crown Prosecutor, Grande Prairie Ministry:Justice Full or Part-Time:Full Time Permanent/Temporary/Wage: Permanent Crown Prosecutor 1 - 3 Crown Prosecutor 1 - ($3,947.31 to $4,972.47/bi-weekly) ($103,204.66 to $129,781.47/year) Crown Prosecutor 2 -( $5,593.60 to $6,926.96/Biweekly) ($145,992.96 to $180,793.66/year) Crown Prosecutor 3 - ($7,450.08 to $8,260.75/bi-weekly) ($194,447.09 to $215,605.58/year) Crown Prosecutor Incentives Crown Prosecutors shall receive a retention incentive after one year of continual employment in the Grande Prairie Office. This retention incentive shall be ten percent (10%) of the Crown Prosecutor’s current salary as of the date the one (1) continual year of employment is reached. Also, Crown Prosecutors, get one earned day off per month for excess hours worked.

The Alberta Crown Prosecution
Service (ACPS)
is seeking a Crown Prosecutor to join its Prosecutions team at the Grande Prairie Regional Office in Alberta. As a Crown Prosecutor, you will play a key role in delivering justice through fearless, fair, and effective prosecutions. The daily responsibilities of Crown Prosecutors encompass a broad range of duties, including bail hearings, charge screening, early case resolution, alternative measures, decisions on whether to proceed to trial or discontinue a prosecution, conducting prosecutions, entering stays of proceedings, withdrawing charges, plea resolutions, providing disclosure, electing to proceed summarily or by indictment, taking positions on sentencing, drafting legal opinions and briefings, working with victims, witnesses, and police, and launching appeals.
Ensuring the public interest is served and a just result is achieved. Providing the Court with evidence and legal arguments that are fair, accurate, and complete. The ability to draft legal opinions, briefings, and court documents in a skilled and effective manner.

Prosecutor 1: a minimum of 0-4 years legal experience isrequired.

Prosecutor 2: a minimum of 4 years legal experience isrequired.

Prosecutor 3: a minimum of 11 years legal experience isrequired. For Law degrees obtained outside Canada, proof of accreditation from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) is required. A valid Alberta Motor Vehicle Operators License and travel within the province. In addition to your resume, please include a cover letter briefly outlining your criminal law experience and your bar call date (applications without the Cover Letter may not be considered).
Asset
Experience in Criminal Litigation is an asset. The Hours of Work are 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Travel within Alberta to circuit court locations is a requirement for this role. Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate.
This competition may be used to fill future permanent, temporary, full time and part time vacancies. Successful candidate(s) may be eligible for relocation expenses up to $10,000.00.
