Payroll Contractor

Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Classification: Contractor Wanted – ($31 per hour – approximately 20 hours per week)

Job Summary:

Responsible for processing employee payroll accurately and on time, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Duties include entering time and attendance data, calculating wages and deductions, preparing reports, and assisting with payroll reconciliations and year-end processes. Requires solid attention to detail, confidentiality, and accounting skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Process bi-monthly payroll accurately and on time.
Review employee timesheets for accuracy, attendance, overtime, and leave information.
Calculate wages, deductions, advantages, and other payroll adjustments.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records.
Respond to Manager/Supervisor questions regarding pay, deductions, and payroll matters.
Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll-related accounting tasks.




Ensure payroll practices comply with company policies and applicable Employment Standards and Collective Agreements.
Prepare payroll reports and documentation as required.
Assist with year-end payroll activities, including tax forms and reconciliations.
Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working with UKG Ready Payroll Software
Knowledge and experience working within Collective Agreements
Post secondary education in payroll; (Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation Preferred)
2+ years of experience in a payroll function.
Attention to detail and accuracy is crucial.
Solid understanding of payroll processes, deductions (MPP, WorkSafe, EHT, Union Dues Etc.), employment standards.
Solid organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and meet payroll deadlines.

Pay: $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Vernon, BC
