Overview
Reprobiogen is seeking a Molecular Genetics Technician to join its reproductive genetics laboratory. This role supports clinical molecular genetic testing, including testing related to preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and contributes to the laboratory’s quality processes.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Lab Director and Laboratory Manager. The regular schedule is weekdays, with flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when needed.
Responsibilities
Perform molecular genetic testing using techniques such as next-generation sequencing (NGS), Sanger sequencing, genotyping, and array-based methods.
Prepare samples, operate laboratory equipment, review results, and identify issues requiring follow-up.
Troubleshoot testing procedures and assist with evaluating protocols for clinical use.
Maintain complete and accurate records of testing, results, equipment, and work performed.
Follow approved procedures and participate in quality control, quality assurance, and continuous improvement activities.
Support the laboratory’s accreditation and quality standards.
Experience
Education in medical laboratory technology, molecular genetics, cytogenetics, or a related field.
Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist - Molecular and/or Cyto Genetics or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification in molecular genetics or eligibility for certification, with the aim of obtaining certification soon after starting employment.
At least three years of recent molecular genetics laboratory experience.
At least two years of hands-on experience with NGS techniques.
Solid attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to recognize and troubleshoot problems.
Ability to organize competing tasks, maintain accurate documentation, and work effectively as part of a team.
Transparent written and verbal communication skills.
