Building Automation Systems is seeking a Telecommunications Technician to support new projects, service oriented construction and maintenance divisions. Promote and maintain company policies and maintain safe working settings for all. This permanent, full-time position involves the testing, maintenance, repair, and servicing of various types of D-Marc connections, multi-mode and single-mode fiber, and different types of networking equipment. We are building members of a team for long term employment. BAS is a small/medium sized business that develops and expects employees to grow into leadership roles within the company. We need robust installation experts who can commit to the quick paced commercial demands of today's construction industry, while prioritizing safety and quality.
Successful candidates will have,
Ability to install, terminate and test all types of Fiber Optic cabling
Cabling experience (Cat5, Cat6, coax, fiber)
Experience with wireless communication systems
Tip and Ring experience
Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, and written)
Solid problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
Commission new telecommunication systems and make repairs to existing equipment/cabling in telephone/electrical rooms.
Read and follow blueprints and wire diagrams
Operate small hand and power tools, test equipment and design techniques
Understand networking requirements and wiring standards applicable to the telecommunications industry
Complete work at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
Understand the electrical wiring codes and best practices
Participate in the company health and safety program
Available to work in Calgary and surrounding areas.
Follow CEC Code.
Able to manage multiple projects at the same time.
Ability to train and coach apprentices
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & Certifications:
Lift Operating Certificate (Scissor/Boom)
Fall Arrest Certificate
WHMIS Certificate
Commercial experience required
Previous experience preferred
Certified and qualified Fiberoptic terminating and testing certification
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
