Shape academic excellence at the Royal College of Art as the Executive Academic Lead for the Research Excellence Framework 2029. Engage with senior leaders while strategizing for REF29 in a hybrid role. This part-time, fixed-term role based in Battersea, London focuses on leading the RCA’s REF29 Strategy from now until December 2028.

You will collaborate closely with Executive Professional Services, Deans, and Directors to ensure the submission highlights the distinctiveness of art and design research. Your significant academic leadership will oversee REF preparation, including output selection and impact assessments within the evolving national research landscape. Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement the RCA REF29 Strategy
- Chair the REF29 Strategy Group for governance




- Curate research outputs and develop environment statements
- Select impactful case studies for submission
- Represent RCA in external REF-related forums Requirements:
- Senior academic with solid research excellence profile
- Significant experience in academic leadership roles
- Familiarity with REF cycles and research assessment
- Excellent strategic thinking and communication skills
- Detailed understanding of UK research landscape Lead the RCA’s excellence in research amid evolving assessment standards through REF29 leadership.
