Support urban Indigenous community members as a Community Welcome Navigator at First Light's Headquarters in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Create secure, respectful spaces while connecting individuals with vital services.
First Light is seeking a Community Welcome Navigator to enhance engagement and provide trauma-informed support within its Community Gathering Space. This role requires listening to community members, addressing immediate needs, and facilitating access to First Light programs. You will engage in reception duties while documenting community inquiries to inform service improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide warm and respectful welcomes to all visitors
• Respond to community inquiries with patience and empathy
• Maintain a safe and accessible Community Gathering Space
• Build relationships with community members, fostering trust
• Help individuals navigate available resources and programs
Requirements:
• Understanding of Indigenous histories and urban community dynamics
• Proven ability to engage with diverse groups respectfully
• Experience in community service or crisis support roles
• Solid communication and active listening skills
• Ability to manage challenging interactions calmly
