We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The chosen applicant will be required to join and begin their duties as soon as possible. Commercial Development Opportunity Generation and Management

The candidate will be responsible for creating, developing, and managing non-aeronautical revenue streams through commercial development initiatives, including preparing and executing related agreements.

The candidate will be responsible for recommending strategies to optimize non-aeronautical and commercial development revenue streams.

The candidate will be responsible for evaluating commercial opportunities, leading negotiations, and engaging stakeholders to secure executed commercial development leases at the Airport.

The candidate will be responsible for acting as a liaison between tenants, developers, and the Airport to maximize revenue and commercial development opportunities.

Strategic Initiatives

The candidate will be responsible for developing strategic marketing initiatives through the implementation of an annual commercial development plan.

The candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction for managing existing airport commercial tenants and developing strategies to attract complementary tenants and services to expand non-aeronautical business.

The candidate will be responsible for researching regional and global market trends and providing senior management with recommendations to target current and future high-growth industry sectors.

The candidate will be responsible for providing commercial development expertise and input into future Airport Master Plans and strategic planning initiatives.

YLW Prospect Development and Engagement

The candidate will be responsible for coordinating the development of general and targeted market sounding initiatives to communicate current and future commercial opportunities and maximize the use of airport lands.

The candidate will be responsible for managing relationships with future tenants and leading commercial development negotiations from initial discussions through to lease execution.

The candidate will be responsible for analyzing stakeholder requirements, identifying development opportunities and risks, and designing processes to capture and manage commercial development opportunities.

The candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams, external developers, and commercial industry stakeholders.

YLW Tenant Relationship Management

The candidate will be responsible for managing YLW tenant and developer relationships and collaborating with airport departments to secure sub-tenants and revenue opportunities that support new and existing commercial businesses.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the Airport’s tenant relationship program to strengthen tenant engagement and support business objectives.

The candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.





The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing processes to identify and capture potential commercial tenants while building strong relationships with industry groups and organizations.

YLW Brand Management

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Airport’s branding aligns with corporate policies and supports overall business objectives.

The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Airport’s branding program through appropriate activities within the commercial development portfolio.

The candidate will be responsible for providing oversight of tenant requirements and future developments to ensure alignment with the Airport’s desired outcomes and Master Plan.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and promoting commercial opportunities that support investments and strategic partnerships.

The candidate will perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, including business administration, real estate, urban planning, economics, or a related field, with an equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

The candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience in commercial development, real estate, leasing, or business development, preferably within a public sector, airport, or transportation environment.

The candidate must have proven experience managing commercial contracts, leases, or vendor relationships.

Preference will be given to candidates who have completed certification or coursework in real estate management, property development, or commercial leasing.

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with public-private partnerships (P3s) or development agreements within a municipal or airport setting.

The candidate must be eligible to work legally in Canada.

The candidate must have knowledge of airport commercial operations, including land use planning and passenger-focused retail environments.

The candidate must have knowledge of commercial leasing, real estate development, and property management within a public sector or airport environment.

The candidate must be an understanding of non-aeronautical revenue streams, including retail, food and beverage, advertising, and parking.

The candidate must be familiar with economic development practices and municipal land use planning, zoning, and permitting processes.

The candidate must have project management skills to oversee tenant fit-outs,



development projects, and commercial initiatives from concept through completion.

The candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills to support informed decisions and long-term planning.

The candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced and regulated environment.

The candidate must have knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks, including airport security requirements and federal land lease guidelines.

The candidate must be able to interpret and apply financial documents, contracts, and commercial terms.

The candidate must be flexible to attend site visits, stakeholder meetings, and respond to tenant requirements outside standard business hours when required.

The candidate must have the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with employees and a broad network of internal and external stakeholders.

The candidate must be able to use various information technologies, standard office applications, and operation-specific software systems.

The candidate must demonstrate a high level of integrity and ethical conduct while maintaining strong commitment to safety and compliance standards.

The candidate must maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters and communicate tactfully and effectively with elected officials, staff, management, media, and members of the public.

Security and safety

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Transportation Security Clearance (TSC) from Transport Canada as a condition of employment.

The candidate must be willing to work outside regular business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet operational requirements.

The candidate must be able to travel to various locations across the region and occasionally attend domestic or international meetings and conferences as required.
