Job Description Assisting in the development and maintenance of project budgets, cost plans, and cost control processes. Establishing and tracking project cost baselines while monitoring performance against approved budgets. Supporting the development and maintenance of the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS). Monitoring project expenditures, commitments, accruals, and actual costs to ensure alignment with budget targets. Assisting with project Change Management and Change Control processes, including evaluating the cost impact of proposed changes. Tracking project performance and supporting Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting, including Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI). Analyzing cost variances, identifying trends, and recommending corrective actions to maintain project financial objectives. Preparing weekly,
monthly, and ad hoc cost reports, forecasts, and project performance dashboards. Supporting the development and maintenance of Estimate at Completion (EAC), Estimate to Complete (ETC), and cash flow forecasts. Participating in project review meetings and providing updates on project cost performance and financial status. Collaborating closely with Project Managers, Schedulers, Procurement, Finance, Engineering, Construction, and Operations teams. Reviewing invoices, commitments, and change orders to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting. Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within cost control and project controls processes. Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of experience in Cost Control, Project Controls, Project Accounting, or a related discipline. Experience supporting infrastructure, construction, engineering, utilities, transportation, or other capital projects. Demonstrated experience monitoring project budgets, tracking costs, preparing forecasts, and analyzing cost variances. Understanding of project controls principles, including budgeting, forecasting, change management, and cost reporting. Experience with cost management systems, ERP platforms (e.G., SAP, Oracle, or similar), and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM), including CPI and SPI metrics, is considered an asset. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work in a collaborative project workplace. Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
