Canada Life is currently looking for a Senior DevOps Engineering Specialist (Container Platforms) to design , implement, and keep running secure, scalable , and resilient cloud plus container platforms. The focus is mostly on cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes , CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automation, and general DevOps habits, you know the kind.

This job would fit an experienced DevOps or Cloud Engineering qualified who can step up on tricky technical initiatives, untangle distributed issues, and steadily improve platform dependability. You’ll also be expected to collaborate closely with security, infrastructure, networking, and development teams, sort of like everyone pulling the same rope.

- You’ll be in charge of figuring out stuff and making it real, sometimes on repeat. Also, create and maintain Infrastructure as Code approaches, with Terraform, so the whole thing stays reproducible.
- Automate infrastructure and operational routines using Ansible or similar tools, then help wire up CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
- You’ll deploy and keep running containerized applications with Docker and Kubernetes. Beyond that, you will improve observability,



monitoring, logging, and general operational hygiene , which is honestly a big part of daily work.
- When something breaks, you’ll need to troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems, platform issues , and deployment failures that are not obvious at first.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, and help them level up with cloud engineering and DevOps best practices.

Responsibilities

- Define, deliver, and refine modern cloud solutions that are secure and also cost-conscious , even when requirements change midstream.
- Do root-cause analysis for tough technical incidents , not just patch and move on.
- Maintain cloud security, governance, governance again if needed, compliance, and operational standards.
- Enhance platform features, internal tools, processes, and engineering guidelines.
- Mentor team members, promote DevOps and cloud engineering best practices, and help the team collaborate better over time.
- Keep technical documentation updated and communicate major incidents, risks , and initiatives to leadership.

Requirements

- 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or closely related areas.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile, and DevOps practices, like the whole cycle not only the build stage.
- Advanced experience designing and supporting cloud-native platforms.
- Spot deployment and operational bottlenecks, then implement improvements that stick.
- Operate and scale cloud-native platforms across development, testing, and production environments.
