Empower Indigenous women in Vancouver with the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre as the Indigenous Women’s Advocacy Coordinator. Facilitate essential programs and support for marginalized communities.
In this permanent, full-time role, you will engage directly with Indigenous women accessing DEWC services. Collaborating with the Indigenous Women’s Programming Coordinator, you will help implement initiatives derived from Red Women Rising and Calls for Justice. Your feminist, anti-oppression approach will guide program development, addressing critical issues like gender-based violence and mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate programs for Indigenous women aligned with DEWC’s mission
• Collaborate on educational and cultural initiatives
• Assess and evaluate social justice programs
• Promote DEWC’s values in all engagements
• Support integrated services alongside DEWC staff
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years in social justice program development
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and women's issues
• Strong organizational and administrative skills
• Willingness to obtain First Aid Certification and NVCI
• Comfortable in a challenging, quick-paced environment
