Position Description: Ferrous Supervisor (Receiving)
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Salaried-Exempt

Department: Operations

Reports to: Yard Manager

Salary: $90,000-$105,000 (additional relocation allowance offered)

Schedule: 40 hours/week(On-Site)
Location: Richmond – Mitchell Island

Job Summary:
The Ferrous Supervisoris responsible foroverseeing daily operations of the non-ferrous processing area, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of materials. This role leads a team of unionized and non-unionized operators, manages production flow, ensures quality of ferrous materials, and supports continuous improvement within the facility.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production
Supervise daily ferrous processing activities including receiving, sorting, grading, and shipping materials. Ensure production targets are met and monitor material flow
Oversee proper identification and segregation of ferrous metals

Safety & Compliance
Enforce all safety policies and procedures. Conduct daily safety meetings. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and company standards.
Identifyhazards and promote a solid safety culture.

Team Leadership
Supervise, train, and develop employees. Assign daily tasks andmonitorperformance
Support employee engagement and address performance concerns

Quality Control
Ensureaccuratesorting of received material
Prepare material according to specifications of the processes and suppliers
Perform inspections andmaintainquality standards

Equipment & Yard Management
Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment including forklifts, material handlers,



front end loaders and excavators
Maintain a clean and organized yard and coordinate maintenance repairs

Reporting & Administration
Track production metrics andmaintaininventory records
Monitor labour productivity andassistin budgeting efforts

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
3+ years of relevant industry experience
1+yearssupervisory experience
Knowledge of ferrous materials and equipment operations

Core Competencies
Leadership, communication, attention to detail, problem-solving, organization, and commitment to safety

Required Skills & Qualifications
Willingness to work in outdoor environments (heat, cold, dirt, noise)
Robust awareness of safety practices
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment
Outdoor industrial workplace with exposure to weather, heavy machinery, and noise
Requires standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive physical activity throughout the shift
