City of Maple Ridge is located at Maple Ridge, BC. The company is currently looking for applications for the role of Student Work Placement Opportunity | Bylaw Projects. We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The candidate must be enrolled in a post-secondary program that requires a co-op, practicum, or experiential learning placement, and the educational institution must permit and support participation in the placement.

Position : Student Work Placement Prospect | Bylaw Projects
Salary: $26.73 – $31.39 per hour
Location : Maple Ridge, BC
The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Bylaw Compliance and Business Licensing Teams in conducting a comprehensive review of the Business License Bylaw and related policies and procedures while assisting with cross-departmental and external partnership initiatives in collaboration with Economic Development, Business Planning, and Strategic Policy.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to support research, environmental scanning, and the development of project materials, briefing notes, presentations, and recommendations related to Bylaw amendments that support the business community in Maple Ridge.
The candidate will be responsible for assisting with the collection, organization, analysis, and presentation of relevant data to support improvements to strategy, performance measurement, and dashboard reporting.
The candidate will be responsible for supporting community engagement and interest holder coordination activities by preparing meeting materials, documenting discussions, tracking action items, and assisting with follow-up on project deliverables.
Job Requirements The candidate must demonstrate the ability to support research, analyze, and summarize information clearly and accurately to support policy, planning, and project development in a local government environment.
The candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and prepare clear documents, presentations, and correspondence for internal and external audiences.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with staff, partner agencies, and community interest holders on sensitive and complex community safety and wellbeing issues.
The candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail while managing multiple tasks, maintaining accurate records, and meeting deadlines.
The candidate must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and an interest in data management, reporting, and dashboard development; experience with data visualization or analysis tools is considered an asset.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to apply these skills or quickly learn and develop them in a professional setting.
The candidate must be enrolled in the second-to-last or final year of a program that is relevant to the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined in this posting.
The candidate will not be required to possess previous experience for this position.
Work conditions The position may offer flexibility in work hours and placement duration to meet the needs of the student’s academic program, practicum, or educational institution, in accordance with the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and applicable employment terms. Placements in positions represented by CUPE Local 622 will follow the applicable Letter of Understanding.
