Senior Red Seal Journeyman Service Plumber
Job Description
This Senior field position seeks an experienced, highly skilled, and selfmotivated Red Seal Journeyman Service Plumber to join a busy service team. You will draw on a minimum of 10 years of plumbing trade experience, including at least 6 years of dedicated service and maintenance work in residential, commercial, and strata environments. You will independently diagnose and resolve complex plumbing and mechanical issues, perform preventative maintenance and repairs, communicate directly with clients and property managers, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians. The role requires a high degree of technical knowledge, sound judgment, professionalism, and a strong commitment to exceptional customer service, safety, efficiency, and quality workmanship.
Responsibilities
Attend residential, commercial, and strata service calls to accurately diagnose plumbing and mechanical system deficiencies.
Troubleshoot complex plumbing, drainage, water supply, heating, and mechanical systems to identify the root cause of failures.
Recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions and perform repairs efficiently while minimizing disruption to clients, occupants, and building operations.
Use appropriate testing equipment, diagnostic procedures, and technical resources to accurately identify and resolve problems.
Perform service, repair, maintenance, replacement, and installation of plumbing systems and components across a variety of building types.
Work extensively with domestic water systems, sanitary and storm drainage, DWV systems, pressurereducing valves (PRVs), backflow prevention devices, mixing valves, expansion tanks, pumps, and related equipment.
Complete repairs and upgrades to existing plumbing infrastructure, including piping modifications and component replacements.
Assess existing systems to identify deficiencies, potential failures, and opportunities for preventative maintenance and system improvements.
Service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair boilers and hydronic heating systems.
Work with domestic hot water systems, circulating pumps, mixing valves, expansion tanks, pressurereducing valves, zone valves, controls, and associated mechanical equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanicalroom equipment and hydronic heating loops and perform preventative maintenance to improve system reliability and performance.
Ensure all work complies with applicable provincial plumbing and gas codes, municipal bylaws, manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and safety regulations.
Maintain a high standard of workmanship to ensure completed installations and repairs are safe, reliable, and fully code compliant.
Identify and report deficiencies, unsafe conditions, and coderelated concerns in a timely and thorough manner.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment on all job sites.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with homeowners, building managers, property managers, strata representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Clearly explain diagnostic findings, recommended repairs,
available options, and the potential consequences of deferred maintenance.
Provide accurate and transparent recommendations for repair, replacement, and preventative maintenance to support informed client decisions.
Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively while working on client properties.
Handle challenging customer situations with professionalism and seek office support when needed.
Complete accurate electronic service reports, work orders, invoices, deficiency reports, estimates, and parts lists.
Document diagnostic findings, completed work, materials used, and recommended followup work in the service management system.
Maintain accurate records through dispatch and service management software, including required photographs, measurements, readings, and supporting documentation.
Communicate outstanding deficiencies and followup requirements clearly to the office and management team.
Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians.
Demonstrate proper procedures, safe work practices, troubleshooting techniques, and skilled customer service standards.
Lead by example by maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity, professionalism, and accountability.
Assist less experienced technicians with difficult diagnostic and repair situations when required.
Participate in the rotational emergency and afterhours oncall schedule.
Respond professionally and efficiently to emergency service calls, prioritizing critical plumbing and mechanical failures based on safety, property protection, and client requirements.
Provide clear documentation and communication regarding emergency work performed and required followup repairs.
Essential Skills
Red Seal Journeyman Plumber certification.
Minimum of 10 years of total plumbing trade experience.
At least 6 years of handson service and maintenance experience in residential, commercial, and strata settings.
Gas B ticket.
Valid drivers licence.
Extensive experience in service plumbing and commercial plumbing.
Strong technical knowledge of domestic water systems, sanitary and storm drainage, DWV systems, PRVs, backflow prevention devices, mixing valves, expansion tanks, pumps, and related equipment.
Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex plumbing, drainage, water supply, heating, and mechanical systems.
Experience servicing and repairing boilers and hydronic heating systems, domestic hot water systems, circulating pumps, zone valves, and associated controls.
Thorough understanding of provincial plumbing and gas codes, municipal bylaws, manufacturer specifications, and safety regulations.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple service calls and priorities.
Strong communication skills to explain findings, options, and recommendations clearly to clients and stakeholders.
High level of professionalism, sound judgment, and commitment to quality workmanship and customer service.
Competence in using electronic dispatch and service management software for documentation and reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Heating systems experience is considered an asset.
Experience mentoring apprentices and junior technicians in the field.
Demonstrated ability to maintain organized records, including photos, measurements, readings, and detailed service notes.
Proven track record of maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work environment on job sites.
Comfort working in both residential and commercial environments, including strata properties and downtown locations.
Ability to manage oncall responsibilities and respond effectively to emergency service situations.

Work Environment
This role is entirely fieldbased, focusing on onsite residential and commercial service, renovation, and installation work across changing customer locations. Assignments may include downtown work such as projects at large facilities, though extended multimonth placements are not guaranteed. The typical day involves arriving on site around 8:00 a.m., with material and equipment pickup starting as early as 7:30 a.m.; time from arrival at the wholesaler or shop for required pickup is paid, while travel to that location is not. A company vehicle is provided for work duties. Your first day begins at the office, followed by approximately one week working alongside an experienced technician to learn systems, procedures, and expectations. The environment emphasizes professionalism, safety, and efficient service delivery while adapting to different building types and mechanical rooms.

This is a Permanent position based out of Vancouver, BC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $93600.00 - $104000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
