Software Engineer Location: On-site Cambridge, ON (headquarters) Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm Reports to: VP Engineering JCMI) is a global provider of commercial Poultry Incubation Products and Services. We are seeking a highly skilled Junior Software Engineer with expertise in PCB programming to join our team. The ideal candidate will design, program, and integrate embedded control systems for industrial equipment, ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves working closely with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to develop cutting-edge solutions for automation and manufacturing applications.
Develop and implement C, C++, and C# code for microcontrollers and embedded systems. Write and optimize firmware for real-time industrial control applications. Configure and fine-tune control algorithms (e.g., PID control).
Work with electrical engineers to design and validate PCB layouts for industrial systems. Program and test microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators. Develop interfaces for SCADA, PLCs, and HMIs to enable monitoring and control.
Implement industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, CAN, Ethernet/IP, and PROFINET.
Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in PCB-controlled systems. Conduct functional and performance testing to ensure reliability and compliance.
Provide technical support to manufacturing and field service teams. Create detailed software design descriptions, test procedures, and system diagrams. Maintain version control using Git or similar repository tools.
Ensure designs meet industry safety and regulatory standards. Analyze system performance and propose enhancements for efficiency. Research and recommend new technologies for PCB-based control applications.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field and 2+ years of experience, or College Diploma in Engineering Technology, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, PCB programming, or embedded systems development. ~3-5 years of experience in experience in industrial automation and manufacturing environments (preferred). ~ Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Assembly. ~ Knowledge of control systems, PID controllers, and real-time control applications. ~ Experience with industrial communication protocols and SCADA/HMI integration. ~ Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling and analysis. ~ A collaborative and supportive team dedicated to innovation and excellence in the poultry industry. ~ Competitive Salary: 70k – 75k, commensurate with experience. ~ Comprehensive health, dental & extended perks to support wellbeing & success. ~3-weeks vacation to start, Stat holidays + 2 Floater Days. ~ Company social events: Jamesway is an equal‑opportunity employer and committed to respectful workplace principles throughout the life cycle of employment, including during recruitment and hiring stages.
