Description:
ATCO Frontec is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Site Services department in Resolute Bay, Nunavut. The Mechanic is responsible for the repair, overhaul, maintenance and service of a wide variety of equipment.

Working on a rotation of 4 weeks on/4 weeks off, 10 hour shifts, with all travel, meals and accommodations provided.

Responsibilities:

- Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services diesel powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, and excavators
- Fabricates, constructs, installs, and repairs equipment and machinery
- Diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
- May be called upon to operate other equipment
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- A valid class 3 drivers license is required
- A Red Seal certification is considered an asset
- Must be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance
- Must be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol Test and Fit-to-Work Test
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Able to manage time and make decisions in a fast paced environment
- Able to weld, gas and AC/DC is a strong asset




- Experience working in a remote environment is considered an asset
- Strong commitment to follow workplace safety requirements and procedures
- Able to perform a physically strenuous and demanding job i.e. lifting, pulling, etc.
- Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions
